In this newsletter, we share a survey for health and care professionals in Greater Manchester and the Trussell Trust explore the need for a long-term strategy for local crisis support in England. The Greater Manchester Ageing Hub talk about their new partnership with Independent Age to create training to support older people in hardship, and we share findings from an independent evaluation of our Money Advice Referral Tool (MART).

July 19th, 2023

In this newsletter, we look at our new data revealing UK residents’ experiences of financial hardship over the last decade. Liverpool Hope University reflect on their cost-of-living conference and share details of their newly launched Poverty Research and Advocacy Network (PRAN). We also take a look back at the Living Wage Awards, and share updates on End Child Poverty’s new two-child limit data and our soon-to-be launched Poverty Reference Group.

We have our usual Policy and Research updates and there are other short articles on the final page, including an introduction to our two new team members.

July 5th, 2023

In this newsletter, we share an update on our soon-to-be launched data revealing Brits’ experiences of financial hardship over the last decade. Just Fair update on the Scottish human rights consultation and encourage groups and individuals to get involved.  We also share updates on our Money Matters programme and work involving people with lived experience of poverty.

June 14th, 2023

In this newsletter, the End Child Poverty Coalition explores the newly-launched local child poverty statistics, Just Fair updates on the latest local authority to adopt the socio-economic duty and Greater Sport shares new recommendations for enhancing volunteering systems in light of the cost-of-living crisis.

We also take a closer look at the local child poverty statistics for Greater Manchester. We have our usual Policy and Research updates and there are other short articles on the final page.

In this newsletter, Child Poverty Action Group share an update on their research into the cost of going to school and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation explore the idea of a social safety net.

In this newsletter we are delighted to share Trafford Poverty Truth Commission’s closing report.  There is also an article on deduction lending and a local school raises the issue of travel costs for those accompanying students who need special support.

We are asking anyone who is either featured on or is using one or more of our Money Advice Referral Tools (MARTs) to help us by completing a short survey and there’s a link for you to book on to our ‘Coping with an impossible situation’ event on March 30th.

United Utilities have a new package of support, GMPA’s Graham Whitham has been on BBC Breakfast and we have our regular policy and research updates.
